On July 15, the public consultation for the second phase of Ontario's Moose Project opened.
Phase II looks to examine the current population of moose across Ontario and possible approaches to increase sustainable management of it. While the consultation closed on August 14, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has provided a few links that further explain the factors affecting moose today.
We have requested that the area around Basket Lake be considered as a Moose Emphasis Zone, and are waiting to hear from the MNRF on the result of their aerial survey of the lake (WMUs 5 and 15A).
